The Amber Alert Child ID program provides parents/guardians of children under 18 with a plastic ID card and sends information to a secure national database that can only be accessed by law enforcement officials. With the consent of a parent or guardian, children are weighed, measured and photographed. Parents/guardians are given a free ID card for each child. Additional cards are available upon request for $1.00 each.

NOTE: The AMBER Alert Safe Child ID Project does not print the name, address or phone number of the child on the ID card. The only way to obtain a child's information is by the ID number printed on the ID card. (If the ID card is lost or stolen, potential perpetrators can not gain access to a child's personal information.) If a child's ID card is lost or stolen, the information for that child is still in the National Database and available to legitimate Law Enforcement. Only verified Law Enforcement can access the Child's Information.

The Amber Alert program is active in all 50 states. It has helped save the lives of more than 500 children nationwide.

The Enfield Rotary Club conducted an Amber Alert Child ID session at the Chamber of Commerce Home & Product Show in March 2009 with equipment borrowed from another Rotary Club. We felt so strongly about the value of this program that our club raised the funds and purchased our own equipment in August 2009.

If your school, community organization, business or civic group would like to sponsor an Amber Alert Child ID session, please contact Mike Helechu at (860) 741-3701, ext. 243 or email Businesses and for-profit organizations may be asked to pay a nominal sponsorship fee to help defray the costs of the ID cards and consumable supplies. Your company logo and information can be printed on the back of the ID cards. Our ability to conduct an Amber Alert Child ID session depends on the availability of volunteers from our club. Please give us as much advance notice as possible. We will be happy to consider requests for events outside of Enfield. Once again, however, our participation will depend on the availability of volunteers who have experience operating the equipment. Thank you for your interest in the Amber Alert Child ID program.
